Mortal Kombat 2 · Combo Video · 2016
A tool-assisted speedrun of Mortal Kombat 2's GameCube port completed in 9 minutes and 20 seconds. This TAS uses save states and slowdowns to optimize routing and execution, though the GameCube version presents unique constraints—several fatality glitches that work on arcade or other ports fail here, limiting some of the sequence optimizations seen in faster MK2 TAS attempts. The run demonstrates how platform-specific quirks force different strategies; the GameCube port's behavior creates a different optimization landscape than other versions of the game. Speedrunners have noted this as one of the less optimized MK2 TAS routes due to these hardware limitations. The video offers insight into how the same game can vary significantly across different arcade cabinets and home ports, and how those differences cascade through speedrun execution and routing decisions.
This is a tool-assisted speedrun using save and load states. No frame advance, but slowdowns are used however. Probably the worst MK2 version of MAT2. A lot of Fatality glitches do not work here, at least on GameCube port.
