Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar storage technologies ComboVideos.com uses, who sets them, and what they're for. For the broader story of how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a tiny text file that a website stores on your device so it can recognize you on your next visit. The site reads the cookie to remember things like “this person is signed in” or “they prefer dark mode.” Cookies can be set by the site you're visiting (first-party) or by other services embedded in that site (third-party).
We also use related technologies on this site:
- localStorage — like a cookie but bigger, never sent over the network, and never sent to our servers. We use it to remember anonymous saves and UI preferences (like which content-type filter you last picked, or whether you've dismissed the FAQ).
- sessionStorage — same as localStorage but cleared when you close the tab.
2. The cookies we set ourselves (first-party)
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| authjs.session-token | Essential | Keeps you signed in after Google OAuth. Without it, you would have to re-authenticate every page load. | 30 days, or until you sign out |
| authjs.csrf-token | Essential | Prevents cross-site request forgery during sign-in. | Session |
| authjs.callback-url | Essential | Remembers where to send you after sign-in completes. | Session |
| cv:cookie-consent-v1 | Essential | localStorage flag that remembers your choice from our cookie banner so we don't show it on every page. | Until you clear browser storage |
| cv:saved-v1, cv:collections-cache, cv:saved-faq-hidden-v1, cv:collections-faq-hidden-v1, cv:saved-sync-toast-seen-v1 | Essential (UI state) | localStorage. Anonymous saves before sign-in, UI preferences, and one-time prompts. | Until you clear browser storage |
3. Third-party cookies (set by services we embed)
| Set by | When | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube (Google) | When a video embed loads or is played | Video playback, anti-abuse, analytics, ad personalization on YouTube.com. | Google cookie policy |
| Google (OAuth) | During Google sign-in flow | Authenticates you with Google; we never see your password. | Google privacy policy |
| Vercel (hosting) | On request, for routing and DDoS protection | Edge routing, traffic shaping. Vercel-managed; not used for analytics on our content. | Vercel privacy policy |
We currently do not embed Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other behavioral-advertising tracker. If that changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and our consent banner will require opt-in.
4. How to control cookies
You have several layers of control:
- Our banner: on first visit you can Accept or Reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice anytime by clicking the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
- Browser settings: every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies, either globally or per-site. Look for “Privacy & Security” or “Site settings.”
- Private/incognito mode: most cookies are session-only and discarded when you close the tab.
- YouTube specifically: you can manage Google's ad-personalization settings at adssettings.google.com.
Heads up: blocking the essential cookies above will break sign-in, saves, and other personalized features. We don't have a way around that — those cookies are how the site remembers you.
5. Do Not Track
We honor browser-level Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where applicable. We don't respond to legacy Do-Not-Track headers because the standard was never finalized and is no longer maintained by browser vendors.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. When we add or remove cookies, the table above is the source of truth and we'll bump the “Last updated” date.
