Capcom vs SNK 2's C-Groove opened up a unique cancellation system where Level 2 Supers could be interrupted into Special moves, Taunts, and other Supers—a core mechanic that shaped how the game was meant to be played. This video breaks down exactly when and why these cancels matter, using Ryu and Ken clips to illustrate the difference between theory and execution. The Ryu example shows how canceling a Tatsu Super into an air Tatsu forces faster ground contact, enabling follow-up combos that wouldn't land otherwise. Ken's situation is even more revealing: without canceling the Super's recovery into a Tatsu, the subsequent juggle becomes impossible—not because of timing, but because the game's combo system creates whiffs where hits should connect. Desk walks through the mechanical reasoning behind each example, including a frame where a crouching Heavy Punch simply vanishes if the preceding cancel isn't performed. For anyone exploring CvS2's depth or curious about how fighting games of that era encoded their intended combos into system mechanics, this is essential viewing.

Also, in the Ken clip, if you don't cancel the recovery of the super into a tatsu you simply can't juggle afterwards. Not because you land sooner but because the combo system was really weird.
